Gymnothorax griseus - The Plastic Eye

The eye of the Gymnothorax griseus — also known as the geometric moray eel — has an uncanny, almost artificial appearance. Its glassy, pale iris and near-translucent gaze make it look like it was painted on rather than grown by nature. A surreal detail from a secretive reef resident.
